Arts Education in the News: Former basketball coach is catalyst for new arts center
An inspiring article in The Christian Science Monitor offers hope to people who are interested in arts education. Principal William Skilling, who had never attended a school arts performance, drew on his coaching skills to spearhead a drive for an arts center at a new high school in Byron Center, Michigan. He persuaded the school board and private sponsors to double the arts faculty and build a state-of-the-art theater that hosts productions for students and community members. BYU Introduces New Media Education Master's Program
The Department of Theatre and Media Arts at Brigham Young University is now offering a Master's in Media Education. This program will prepare future leaders in the media education movement by giving them a solid background in film criticism and educational pedagogy. More »
