To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used in Media Education Database. This notice may be modified from time to time; the date of the most recent revision appears on this page. The following is a summary of the various ways we treat the information you provide us while using our site.

1. The type of information the Media Education Database collects

The Media Education Database collects personally identifying information with your knowledge and consent. When you register with our site, you are asked to provide information such as your name, email address, and information about your employment if you are an educator.

The Media Education Database collects instructional materials (lesson plans, handouts, instructional strategies, etc.) for use in a public classroom.

2. How the Media Education Database uses the information provided by you

The personally identifying information you provide to our website is used to provide the site administrator with information about the demographics of the users who access our site. The Media Education Database does not sell or share our users' email addresses, personal or employment information. We may occasionally use your personal or employment information to notify you of new site features or upcoming conferences that you may be interested in. If you do not wish to receive such notifications, simply notify the site administrator and you will no longer receive this information.

Additionally, with your permission your email address and employment information will be posted on the User Profiles section of the Media Education Database. The sole purpose of this is to allow site users an opportunity to contact other users in order to foster communication between educators for the sharing of ideas and materials. You are welcome to indicate on your user profile that you do not want your email address or professional information to be displayed to other users. This can be done by clicking on the "edit my profile" button on the top navigational bar while you are logged in.

Our site may also record your IP address, which helps us diagnose problems with our server and administer our website. We may use a "cookie" to save your settings and provide your own personalized information. Cookies are tiny data files that are placed on your hard drive when you visit some websites. Only information that you specifically supply, such as a user ID, will be included in the cookie.

The instructional materials which are provided by you on this website will remain your intellectual property, which means that you own them and the rights to publish, use, or distribute your own material. Posting materials on our website merely grants the Media Education Database the right to allow site users to access, view, download, print, and use the materials for non-profit, educational or personal use. The Media Education Database will not publish or distribute the materials which you provide to the site without your express written permission.

Please remember that any information that you disclose in the Media Education Database public areas of the Internet becomes public information and will be treated as non-confidential. You should exercise caution when deciding to disclose personal information.
